My passion about health goes way further than healthy food. If you ask me, a healthy lifestyle is a combination of food, sleep, mental health, being active etc..
I would like to share with you a few tips that have helped me on my health journey.
1/ Get enough sleep: I know it sounds like you have heard it before, but it really makes a huge difference. Science shows you need 7-8 hours of sleep each night. It is advisable to keep the same routine during the whole week; meaning go to bed and get up at around the same time everyday of the week. A shorter night often results in bad food choices during the day. People who get enough sleep are more likely to make the healthier choice.*
Check out the book ‘Why we sleep’ by Mathew walker if you are interested in knowing more about this topic!
2/ Stretching: Doing some sort of stretching everyday! Studies have shown stretching helps to relieve stress! Do you have a spare 5 minutes in the morning or evening? Your body will be grateful!
3/ Meal prep: Are you busy during the week and do you struggle finding time to cook a healthy meal in the evening? Then meal prepping is for you! Schedule 2 hours of meal prepping every Sunday. Basically meal prepping means you prepare parts of your meals in advance.
What I try to do every Sunday (or Saterday) is chop some fresh carrots (as a snack during the week), chop other veggies such as sweet potatoes, celeriac, bell peppers, zucchini, etc… and store them in a container in the fridge to keep fresh. I also keep prechopped onions and garlic in the fridge (I buy these prechopped and frozen, this makes life so much easier!).
